The Bodhan Housing project was initiated by the Telangana state government in collaboration with SPARC Samudaya Nirman Sahayak (SSNS) and aims to develop homes that will house families living below the poverty line (BPL). Apartment buildings are under construction in Bodhan Town, Nizamabad District, creating 382 two-bedroom homes that will be fully equipped with water, sanitation and energy. Financed through the state government, the project employs Reall’s recycled funds from previous SSNS projects to bridge finance construction, with government payments at set construction milestones.
To qualify for the housing, homeowners will have to verify their income and any assets owned with the local government to establish their BPL status. Programmes like this are increasing throughout India with state advertisements encouraging families on low incomes to apply. The houses will then be allotted through a lottery-based system, at no cost to the new residents.
