As Reall’s first project with Smart Havens Africa the Bukalango project, based in Wakiso, Kampala, is funding the construction of 38 homes, as the second stage of a 61-unit development. These homes will deliver a decent place to live with services, and is estimated to create around 185 jobs during construction.

The site is located 16 kilometres from the central business district of Kampala, in a neighbourhood with good access to local employment opportunities, schools and healthcare facilities and transport access to the city along a nearby principal highway. Built to be climate smart, SHA’s use of compressed stabilised earth bricks means that the embodied carbon of the homes is reduced by at least 30%.
